Defining the First Financial Center with Lines of Light
At the First Financial Center in Cincinnati, light has become an integral part of the architecture. Approximately 200 Lumascape Linealux L3 Foundation luminaires trace the bold geometric forms of the exterior, emphasizing clean lines and giving the building a distinctive nighttime identity.
The static white luminaires use a 3000K color temperature, creating a warm and consistent line of light across the façade. Carefully integrated into the building envelope, the lighting adds depth, definition, and visual continuity while supporting the contemporary architectural design.
A New Exterior for Cincinnati’s Convention Center
The façade lighting forms part of the completed $264 million transformation of the First Financial Center. The wider redevelopment introduced a new exterior designed to bring more natural light into the building, wider concourses, upgraded meeting rooms, new building systems, a redesigned Queen City Ballroom, and additional outdoor event spaces.
The venue covers approximately 750,000 square feet and includes 195,000 square feet of contiguous exhibition space, renovated meeting facilities, two major ballrooms, and a rooftop terrace with views across the city.
Outside, the transformation also introduced the new Elm Street Plaza, a two and a half acre public space that connects directly to the convention center entrance.
Linealux L3 Foundation Integrated into the Façade
The Linealux L3 Foundation luminaires were positioned to follow the architectural geometry of the building rather than simply washing the exterior with general illumination.
Their continuous lines of warm white light define changes in angle, direction, and form across the façade. This approach strengthens the visual rhythm of the architecture and allows the exterior design to remain clearly legible after sunset.
With around 200 Linealux L3 luminaires incorporated across the building envelope, the installation creates a coordinated appearance across multiple sections of the façade.
