In-ground
At Central Park in Santa Clarita, a dynamic new installation brings light, color, and storytelling to life. More than 200 Lumascape Erden E4 and Erden E6 direct-view in-grade luminaires sweep across the central plaza, forming a flowing “River of Lights” that encourages visitors to gather, interact, and linger well after dark.
This vibrant, color-changing display is more than aesthetic. It’s a piece of public art through light—a welcoming feature that adds atmosphere and identity to one of the city’s most visited community spaces.
To bring the vision of lighting designers Visual Terrain to life, Lumascape engineers adapted the standard fixtures to suit the scale and interactivity of the project. Every luminaire is powered and controlled through PowerSync®, Lumascape’s integrated power and data platform.
PowerSync uses a single 4-core cable to carry both power and digital control, removing the need for separate data runs. Each fixture is individually addressable, giving designers complete creative freedom for effects, scenes, and sequences. The system is managed using PowerSync Data Injectors, which convert familiar protocols like DMX, RDM, and 0–10 V, allowing smooth integration into new or existing control systems.
This efficient, scalable approach meant fewer cables, faster commissioning, and greater design flexibility—all with a robust system built to withstand outdoor public environments.
In public spaces, reliability is everything. Lumascape’s in-grade direct-view luminaires are engineered for harsh conditions, offering durable construction and consistent performance night after night. The visual rhythm of the installation mirrors the natural flow of water, subtly nodding to the presence of SCV Water, one of the project stakeholders.
The result is a long-lasting, low-maintenance installation that transforms the park after sunset, contributing to Santa Clarita’s commitment to public art and community-focused design.
Lumascape helps lighting designers and municipalities bring public places to life with color-changing, programmable, and architecturally integrated lighting systems. From flexible control to rugged construction, our technology supports long-term success in demanding real-world environments.
